Étienne Bouchardy

Étienne Bouchardy, son of the miniaturist Étienne-Espérance Bouchardy, was a pupil of Gros and Sicardi. He presented his works at the Salon exhibitions between 1819 and 1849. In 1833 he was awarded a third class medal. His patrons included artists, as attested by the portrait of the actress Mlle Volney of 1818, and a chalk drawing depicting leading actors and actresses of the Comédie Française. Bouchardy painted portraits, genre pictures in oils, and watercolours.
