Pierre-Guillaume Boëlle

Boëlle began his artistic training in 1777 at Jean-Baptiste Descamps’ École de Dessin in Rouen, where he won several prizes for his drawings in the period up to 1782. In 1781, he was enrolled at the Royal Academy in Paris as a sculpture student but later worked as a painter, and in particular as a miniaturist. In 1802, 1804, and 1808 he exhibited works at the Paris Salon. His wife Suzanne Lassaut bore him a son, Antoine-Louis-François, who also made a career as an artist.
